COOS REGIONAL TRAILS PARTNERSHIP

Minutes

October 17, 2006

Attendees: Lisa Readel, Don Luce, Bob Golden, Tom Sill, Reg Pullen, Zoe Sweet.

A quorum of voting board members were not present.

Those in attendance elected to have an informal meeting. 

Since 5 members of the South Coast Striders subcommittee were in attendance we decided to make this a planning meeting for the 2007 hiking schedule.

The following hiking destinations were put into the record for consideration:

The timing of the hike was included when a clear preference existed.

Daniels Creek

Bandon Beach – South Jetty to Face Rock

Charleston – trail system near OIMB on Coos Head.

Euphoria Ridge – Fall or Spring

Tahkenitch Dunes – Oct

Millicoma Marsh – August

South Slough

Back of Dean’s Creek – subject to approval from BLM

Rooke Higgens – Wayerhauser would need to be contacted for permission.

Dellwood – also Wayerhauser property

Eel Lake – considered a “must” hike in the schedule.

CB/NB Historical hike – Don Luce will contact Anne Donnelly

Empire Lakes – potential Jan hike

Oregon Coastal Trail – winter

Arago Pack Trail – winter

North Spit – Summer – less mosquitos

Humbug Mountain

Rocky Peak

Golden and Silver Falls

Blacklock Point – Floras Lake

Dellenback trail

Blue Ridge trail

Coos Bay City Walk starting at Mingus Park

Cape Blanco – Castle Rock and headland trail

Reg Pullen suggested that we expand the summer hikes to twice a month.

There was consensus on this idea.

Don Luce will contact hospital staff to see if this expansion causes any problems for them.
